Coolsculpting® is the leading non-invasive treatment for fat reduction,†† with over eight million procedures performed worldwide*. Although weight loss can be achieved with a combination of a healthy diet and exercise, some areas where fat is stored – such as the inner thighs – remain stubborn.
Coolsculpting® offers a targeted treatment, where fat cells are frozen and then destroyed by your body . This article answers some of the frequently asked questions regarding how Coolsculpting® is used for the effective removal of fat around the thigh area.
How is CoolSculpting® used to remove thigh fat?
CoolSculpting® is based upon research by Harvard scientists, Dieter Manstein and R. Rox Anderson, who went on to develop the fat-freezing process used in CoolSculpting®, known as Cryolipolysis®. This treatment involves targeting a specific area of the body with a controlled cooling of its fat cells until they freeze**.
The body then naturally removes the dead fat cells, using the same process it does when removing any other cells in the body that have died. The result is a reduction in the fat layer in the targeted area.**
What happens during a CoolSculpting® procedure?
Some patients are concerned about what to expect when exploring CoolSculpting®. Unlike the invasive procedure of liposuction, which can cause post-treatment pain, bruising, numbness and swelling, CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive process that uses a vacuum device to carefully draw the identified area of fat into the applicator and expose the cells to cold temperatures.
This non-surgical treatment does not use needles or anaesthetics. Although generally not found to be painful, a gentle tugging feeling may be experienced when the device is applied, alongside a numbness caused by the intense cold. Some bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, itching and dull aches can occur during the days afterwards.
The treatment is carried out by a healthcare professional, fully trained in the CoolSculpting® procedures. The first appointment is a one-to-one consultation to develop a customised treatment plan, identifying the areas of body fat you wish to target and if the treatment is right for you. Some treatment plans require more than one procedure, especially if multiple areas are targeted, such as thigh and double chin fat.
What results can I expect from a CoolSculpting® thigh fat removal treatment?
Most patients see results from a CoolSculpting® procedure in between two and six months. Our Before and After Gallery illustrate the results gained from patients receiving between one to six thigh fat removal CoolSculpting® treatments.
Unlike weight loss, where the size of the fat cells decreases, CoolSculpting® reduces the actual number of fat cells present in the targeted areas. Once naturally eliminated, these dead cells are gone for good**.
How much does CoolSculpting® thigh fat removal cost?
As every patient receives a customised treatment plan, prices vary according to what body goals you are looking to achieve and what is involved in the process. With local clinics located across the UK, it is a straightforward process to arrange a consultation and discuss what your treatment plan may include and whether the treatment is right for you.
